Crazy Portrait Inspired by Picasso: 1st

After talking a little bit about the great Pablo Picasso, students got a chance to do their own crazy portrait inspired by Picasso's Cubist style. We started with a basic oval shape and then talked about how to combine two different sides of the face, one looking straight-forward and one as a profile. After that, student were free to add their own details. Results were very colorful and fun!

Dr. Seuss "There's a Wocket in my Pocket": 1st

March 2nd we celebrate the birth of the great Dr. Seuss,
and after seeing some really funny results on
TeachKidsArt, I decided to give this project a try and change it
a bit...the results were even better than I ever thought!!!

Japan Notan Design: 6th

This project is one of many that allowed us to review various concept of Design/Art Elements (space and shape) and Principles of Design (balance and contrast) as well as symmetry, asymmetry and composition. The best part is that you don't need to much to do it, these were done with black construction paper, glue, scissors and lots of patience and creativity.

6th graders got busy and very entertained by this awesome project...more results coming soon!
