Tints and Shades Spiral: 3rd

So many ways to teach tints and shades! This is a simple
but really fun project to do so.

Stuart Davis Inspired Collage: 2nd

After learning about Stuart Davis, students picked a
color scheme selection of papers for their collage.

Students cut out pieces without tracing them first, which
made the whole process a lot easier.

Great Job! Everyone was successful on this project!

Mother's Day Flower Cards: 1st

Children loved this one! Using crepe paper already
cut into strips, this turned out to be a dream.

Out of this World Color Wheel: 5th - 6th

Amazing what kids come up with when given a little bit of freedom. For this project students had to create a unique Tertiary Color Wheel. Since the project required lots of thinking and individual planning, it was given as a homework after doing some classroom practice. Here are some of the great results!

Students were free to use any materials they wanted.

Dominican Independence Day (February 27th)

Thanks to Paolat for coming to visit during this project!
Inspired by Criollos: Arte en la Ciudad

What better way to start off this blog than with a celebration! These works were done last year (Feb. 2011) by students from 4th - 6th grade in celebration of the Dominican Independence Month! All works depict parts of the Culture and the results were as unique as the theme itself.

Kandinsky for little: 1st

Learning about color mixing with Kandinsky.
Students only got primary colors, the rest was up to them!

Op Art Tubes w/ Shading: 5th-6th

One of those projects I had to try for myself!
Art with Mr.E gives more details on it if you want to try as well.

Students saw the example first, after lots of "WOW!", we
went through step by step instructions on the board.
The results were exquisite! they loved doing it although
some couldn't handle the patience required for it.

Project also included the selection of a
color family or color scheme.
